ANDOVER — Fred Driscoll, a member of the Andover community, has been named the dean of the College of Engineering and Technology at Wentworth Institute of Technology. He is currently the interim department head. His appointment is due to an academic restructuring at the Institute.

ANDOVER — Harvard University Medical School has named Mark B. Abelson, the founder of Andover Eye, as a clinical professor of ophthalmology. Abelson is an expert in ocular pharmacology, clinical ophthalmic pharmacokinetics, dry eye, allergy, and blepharitis. Before being named a clinical professor, he most recently served as a clinical associate professor at Harvard Medical School.

ANDOVER — Anthony Pimentel of Andover has been appointed Austin Preparatory School’s newest chairman of the board of trustees. Pimentel has been a member of the board since 2002. He serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Sasso Construction in Wilmington. In addition to his support of Austin’s capital improvements, he is a supporter of the annual Austin Open Golf Tournament. He is the father of two Austin Prep graduates: daughter, Jill (Pimentel) Slye, who graduated in 1999, and son, Matt, who followed in 2001.
