Google Revealed Top Hair Trends
Google recently unveiled a brand new list of the current top hair trends. It seems that Google has nailed predictions for things like makeup and fashion in the past, and despite the oddity of some of their predictions in hair, many salons and consumers around the world are already jumping on board.
The “Man Bun”
Although the man bun may be a joke in your inner circle, Google says that it’s a “thing” and that more men than ever will grow out their locks just to get the look. According to the search giant, men’s hair searches were 6% more popular than the same searches for women – a Google first – thanks to male celebs rocking the bun. Now barber shops and salons around the world are elated since they know that men are loyal to their brands, and they are likely to continue to listen to their barbers and stylists when it comes to their ‘do.
Silver Strands
While women in their 30s, 40s, and beyond work tirelessly to cover their grays – and keep them covered, which can become an arduous task – there are women in their late teens and 20s purposely coloring their hair silver. Emotions about this trend are mixed, and some experts claim that the popularity of the HBO hit Game of Thrones might have had a hand in it. One character on the show, Daenerys Targaryen, known to many viewers as “Khaleesi”, looks fabulous in her silvery white strands. With so many people going for outrageous colors, it should come as no real surprise that viewers would want to emulate one of the most beautiful women on the screen today.
Every Color of the Rainbow
Another huge trend that is expected to gain popularity is the bold, bright colors that continue to dominate the market today. Of course, stylists generally use only two or three unusual colors to create a variety of effects, whether this means a green-to-white ombre style or a purple, blue, and silver blocking technique, but it is completely unique nonetheless and something that many women have difficulty wrapping their heads around. If you have ever wanted to try something out of the ordinary, now is certainly the time.
Fancy Braids
Gone are the days of simple French braids; today, people want increasingly complex and unusual styles. The number of searches for braids is up exponentially this year, and so are the number of contributions to sites like Pinterest. Whether you want to braid your hair in a face-framing headband style, create a bun that looks like a flower from your braided long locks, or even create the perfect fishtail, you will find thousands upon thousands of photos and tutorials to help you. What’s more, some stylists are even finding ways to color hair so that, when braided, it gives symmetry and aesthetic appeal.
Google’s predictions for hair trends may be a little too much for many people, but for others, following along with the crowd gives them the opportunity to try new things. Remember that a braid or a new color, no matter how bold, is never permanent. Sometimes, experimenting with new hair trends can be incredibly fun and refreshing.
